One-Command Self-Hosting

- Camera Only Mode — Record video using just your camera. This mode can be toggled directly from the main window for quick, focused video capture. Both Studio and Instant Mode supported.
- More reliable decoding and seek behavior — Added FFmpeg software fallback when hardware decoding fails, improved AVAssetReader end-of-file handling, and tuned decoder timeouts for slow seeks and initial playback.
- Smoother exports and playback stability — Editor preview now pauses during export, keyframe distribution and frame iteration were improved, and GPU buffer resizing is more robust to reduce stalls.
- Lower-overhead macOS frame processing — Introduced pooled pixel buffers and a dedicated copier for screen capture, then refactored frame scaling around the pool for more efficient processing.
- Improved audio timestamp and drift handling — Reworked timestamp/drift logic in the recording and MP4 pipelines for more stable long-running audio-video sync.

Instant Mode Reliability, Prewarmed Target Picker, Multi-Display Fixes
- Instant mode fixes — Fixed frame scaling when display dimensions change mid-recording on macOS, clamped crop bounds to prevent negative coordinates on Windows, and ensured monotonic frame timestamps in the MP4 encoder.
- Prewarmed target picker — The target selection overlay now loads in the background so it opens instantly when you click Record Display, Record Window, or Record Area from the main window or tray menu.
- Multi-display window positioning — The main window, camera preview, and recording controls now appear on the display containing your cursor instead of always defaulting to the primary display. The recording controls bar also follows your cursor when moving between monitors.
- Search and pagination for recordings — Added search fields to the recordings and screenshots settings pages, along with pagination for large libraries.
- Tray menu screenshot support — The tray menu now includes a "Take a Screenshot" option and shows mode-aware labels when in screenshot mode.
- Screenshot editor reliability — The screenshot editor now loads images more reliably with proper retry handling and correct path resolution for
.capproject files.

- Video import support — You can now import existing video files directly into Cap for editing and sharing. Imported videos go through the same studio workflow as recordings, letting you add zoom effects, cursor overlays, and export with Cap's compression.

- Simplified audio timestamp generation — Replaced complex drift tracking with sample-based timestamp generation for more reliable and predictable audio timing. This eliminates edge cases with clock drift detection and produces cleaner, more accurate audio synchronization.
- Improved pause/resume handling — Added shared wall clock pause tracking that correctly accounts for paused time in both video and audio pipelines. Recordings now seamlessly continue with accurate timestamps after pausing and resuming.
- Better frame recovery during playback — Increased fallback distance for frame cache lookups, especially near the end of videos. Playback now handles missing frames more gracefully by using nearby cached frames rather than failing.
- Preset management improvements — Added ability to clear all presets and improved configuration default handling. Default cursor mode now uses raw positioning for snappier cursor movement.

Export Resilience, Audio-Video Sync & Silent Video Support
- Improved export resilience — Exports now retry failed frame decodes up to 3 times with exponential backoff, and can recover from intermittent GPU/decoder hiccups. If a frame fails completely, the previous valid frame is used to prevent gaps. Timeout handling is now more forgiving, waiting for up to 3 consecutive timeouts before aborting.
- Better audio-video timestamp sync — Improved resync logic handles large timestamp jumps (such as those caused by system sleep/wake) by automatically resyncing to wall clock time. Clock skew compensation is now more robust with proper floating-point accumulation.
- Timestamp pipeline overhaul — Recording timestamps now propagate correctly through the entire capture and audio pipeline from the very first frame, improving sync accuracy from the start of recordings.
