SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001

Live Transcription on the Share Page

Transcripts no longer wait for processing to finish. Instant recordings are now transcribed while they upload, so the share page has a transcript ready the moment it loads.

• Live transcript while uploading - Viewers who open a share link mid-upload see the transcript appear live as the recording is spoken, then hand off seamlessly to the final version.
• Instant transcript at load - Landing on a finished Cap shows the transcript immediately instead of a processing spinner.
• Live captions on the player - Captions are available on the share page player as soon as they exist, without restarting playback.

Tighter Access Controls for Shared Caps

A round of hardening across sharing and sign-in.

• Comments require access - Posting a comment now requires permission to view the Cap it belongs to.
• Downloads respect sharing - Downloading an organization video requires an explicit share, not just a guessable link.
• Login codes expire on time - Email login codes now expire after the advertised 10 minutes.

Slack Integration

Cap links now unfurl in Slack. Connect your Slack workspace from organization settings and shared Caps expand into rich previews your team can watch without leaving the conversation.

Improvements

Edit Videos by Editing the Transcript

The fastest way to cut a video is now to cut the words. The web editor has a transcript sidebar, and removing text removes the matching footage.

• Transcript sidebar - The full transcript sits next to the editor timeline, synced word by word with playback.
• Delete text to cut video - Select words or sentences and remove them, and the cuts appear on the timeline instantly.
• Filler word cleanup - Filler words are highlighted so you can strip the "ums" and "uhs" in a couple of clicks.

Rich Link Previews

Cap links look like Cap now. Every page on cap.so and every share link gets a proper preview card when pasted into chat apps, socials, or docs.

• Video preview cards - Share links unfurl with the video's title and thumbnail instead of a generic image.
• Copy as rich link - Copying a share link also carries a formatted title link, so pasting into emails and docs gives a clean clickable preview.

Move Caps in Bulk

Reorganizing your library no longer happens one video at a time. Select multiple Caps and move them together, or transfer an entire organization's content in one step.

• Move from anywhere - Bulk actions work across your library, shared Caps, and spaces.
• Organization content transfer - Admins can transfer all of an organization's videos to another organization from the new content management settings page.

The Cap docs have been redesigned from scratch, with clearer navigation, faster search, and answers on demand.

Screenshots, Paste to Import, and More

Cap now handles screenshots as well as videos, and getting existing media into your library is much quicker.

• Paste to import - Paste a file straight into the dashboard and Cap imports it into your library.
• Import any media - The import flow accepts your existing videos and images, not just Loom links.

Better Download Options

Downloading a Cap is now a proper menu instead of a single button, on both the share page and the editor.

Public Links for Spaces and Folders

Share a whole collection, not just one video. Any space or folder can now be published to a public page that lists all of its Caps.

• Optional password - Protect a public collection with a password before anyone can view it.

Playback Speed Controls

Playback speed is now a first-class setting. Viewers get a speed dial on the player, and owners can decide what speed a video starts at.

• Per-video default - Set a default playback speed for an individual Cap in its settings.
• Organization default - Admins can set a default speed for every video in the organization.

Dashboard Search

Find any Cap in seconds. Search sits in the dashboard navbar and matches across your videos, so you can stop scrolling through folders to find the one you need.

Watch Caps Before the Upload Finishes

Share pages no longer wait for uploads. Instant recordings can be watched while the upload is still in progress, and viewers see a live preview even while you are still recording.

• Playback right after stopping - Open the share link the moment you stop recording and the video starts playing while the rest uploads in the background.
• Live preview while recording - Anyone on the share page during an active recording sees the latest footage as it arrives.

Edit Caps in the Browser

You can now edit a Cap after recording it, right from the share page. Trim the start and end, split the video, and cut out the parts you do not want.

Bulk Loom Import

Migrating a whole team from Loom now takes one CSV. Export your library from Loom, upload the file, and Cap imports every video in the background.

• Runs in the background - Large libraries import over time, with progress you can check from the dashboard.

Google Drive Storage

Cap can now store your recordings in Google Drive. Connect Drive as a storage destination and new Caps upload straight into your own Drive, joining custom S3 buckets as a bring-your-own-storage option.

Moving from Loom no longer means leaving your library behind. Paste a Loom link and Cap imports the video into your account, ready to share from a Cap link.

Translated Captions

Captions are no longer stuck in the language you spoke. Viewers can translate captions on the share page player and watch in the language they prefer.
